Miscellaneous Misunderstandings

May 30, 2012

Miscellaneous Misunderstandings is a multi-faceted visual dance performance. It reveals two men who are observed, documented, filmed, and commented upon by a woman through her camera. The two men have a great resemblance in their appearance as well as their behaviour. They are like brothers. They are like magnets, being either strongly pulled towards or pushed apart from each other. As much as they need, they also repel one another.

The piece combines a dramatic, humorous and poetic dance duet with various video projections on different screens and objects, adding multiple dimensions of intimacy, history and commentary to the work. The two dancers are focused on a seamless shifting between an abstract dance vocabulary and a more theatrical dramatic character of the piece.
